Vasan Bala, the director of ‘Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota’ (2018) and ‘Monica, O My Darling’ (2022), opened as much as THE WEEK about what made him work beneath Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions for the upcoming Alia Bhatt-starrer ‘Jigra’.
Bala as soon as instructed Johar that he fell asleep watching ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’. Talking to Namrata Zakaria of THE WEEK about working with Bala, Johar mentioned, “Choosing Vasan was thrilling for us as a result of he hasn’t actually beloved my earlier work as a director. He instructed me he fell asleep watching ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’. I’m not right here for everybody to like every thing I do. However I beloved his honesty.”

Clarifying that he would not hate Johar’s motion pictures, Bala instructed journal, “I used to be neither impressed or begrudged by Johar’s movies, as we’re several types of storytellers. Somen requested me to satisfy Karan and after I did, it was refreshing to see somebody who didn’t include an strategy that he’s an enormous producer and I might both take his script or depart it. He requested me what I preferred to make. I used to be satisfied this is able to be an equal artistic collaboration, he’s backed me and he’s letting me run with it.”
Bala added this trait of Johar has allowed him to have such a protracted profession, and one which’s nonetheless evolving.

‘Jigra’, co-produced by Alia and Johar, is ready to launch on September 27, 2024.
In September 2023, Alia posted, “From debuting in a Dharma manufacturing (sic) to now producing a movie with them, in some ways, it appears like coming full circle from the place I began. Day-after-day is a special day…thrilling, difficult (and a bit of scary)… not simply as an actor but in addition as a producer as we convey this movie to life, and I CANNOT wait to share extra as we transfer ahead.
