The choice of the makers of 2018: Everyone seems to be a Hero to begin streaming the film on the OTT platform SonyLIV on June 7, barely a month after its theatrical launch, irked theatre house owners. The Movie Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) determined to close down theatres on June 7 and eight to protest the transfer.

Vijayakumar, talking to OTTplay, mentioned the choice of the producers to stream the film on SonyLIV ruined the prospects of the film accumulating Rs 200 crore on the field workplace. He mentioned the shutdown of theatres is a warning and added that if the demand of the organisation isn’t met, issues might be escalated additional.
Joseph had not too long ago mentioned he’s grateful to the representatives of SonyLiv who watched the film and deemed it a narrative that might resonate with individuals throughout the nation.
Reacting to the protest by movie exhibitors, the director wrote on Fb: “I acknowledge the protests by theatre house owners. I consider in making the producers of the film secure financially even earlier than the movie is launched. That is the explanation I felt the take care of SonyLIV was a blessing. This isn’t intentional. That is a part of enterprise. I thank SonyLIV for trusting our movie earlier than the discharge, and I thank all for loving our movie. The theatre house owners and the audiences, you’re the actual heroes.”
The film, starring Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali and Vineeth Sreenivasan amongst others, is a thriller set within the backdrop of the devastating 2018 Kerala floods.
