On an unprecedented bumper day for India, three movies premiered on the 76th Cannes Movie Pageant in a span of some hours on Wednesday.
The eventful day culminated with the world premiere of Anurag Kashyap’s extremely anticipated Kennedy. The screening of the neo-noir thriller started somewhat after midnight.
The Midnight Screenings title screened to a packed Theatre Grand Lumiere, with the director and key forged members Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone in the home.
Additionally current within the viewers was filmmaker Sudhir Mishra, to whom the genesis of the movie’s eponymous character is credited.
It was precisely ten years in the past that an Indian title final performed in Midnight Screenings at Cannes. The movie, Monsoon Shootout, was co-produced by Anurag Kashyap.
The 142-minute Kennedy, which ended properly after 2.30 within the morning, obtained a heat post-screening applause.
It was a day of loads for India on the pageant. Kanu Behl’s Agra premiered to a different packed home in Administrators Fortnight at Theatre Croisette earlier within the night.
In addition to the director, Agra was represented on stage by actors Priyanka Bose and Mohit Agarwal.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Marathi-language quick movie, Nehemich, written and directed by Kolkata-based FTII alumnus Yudhajit Basu, was unveiled on the Bunuel Theatre within the Palais des Festivals.
Basu was in attendance with co-writer Prithvijoy Ganguly and different members of the movie crew.
Nehemich, Marathi for ‘at all times’, performed as a part of La Cinef, the Cannes Movie Pageant’s competitors for movie faculties. The awards for the part are scheduled to be introduced on Thursday night.
